Arielle Watson
2014 Brilliant Minds Scholarship Recipient
It’s Scholarship Season once again, and we are overjoyed to introduce our 2014 Brilliant Minds Scholarship recipient, Arielle Watson! Arielle has decided to major in Communications at the University of Texas at Austin, and as our 2nd annual scholarship winner, she will receive $1000 to assist in funding her expenses at the University of Texas. As a Brilliant Mind, Arielle embodies the spirit of a young woman who seeks to work in the world of communications while bettering her community.
Miss Watson is a fantastic example of a well-rounded student. As Valedictorian of Yates High School, she has also logged over 5,000 community service hours, participated on Yates’ cheerleading squad and was crowned Miss Black America Teen.
Arielle and her peers were featured in a Houston Independent School District blog post discussing the importance of giving back to the community. “Growing up, my parents taught me that volunteering is important,” said Watson. “To see other people my age eager to lend a helping hand in the community [is] so inspiring.”
A brilliant mind and a brilliant spirit, Arielle Watson understands what it means to be a good human and we wish her the absolute best. This amazing young woman is going to use her brilliant mind to impact our world and we can’t wait to help her wherever she goes.
